Foundation Activities

Community Involvement

Since the foundation's inception following the devastating 1990 earthquake which caused severe damage to many areas of the Cordillera region, Winaca has sought an active role in the economic and social development of the region and its people. Their work has included outreach programs, training workshops, and humanitarian relief efforts.

The Winaca Eco-Cultural Village

One of the primary goals of the foundation and support of the indigenous cultures of the Cordilleras. In order to facilitate this, Winaca is in the process of developing and eco-cultural village located in Acop, Benguet, which will serve as a showcase of Cordilleran culture, as well, as providing it's visitors with a valuable insight into the potential of the region.

Bamboo Advocacy

As the world faces the realities of climate change and crises in availability of natural resources, the foundation recognizes the need to develop innovative solutions to the problems arising. The Philippines faces a massive shortage of lumber and wood products as a result of decades of mismanagement of forest resources. In the face of this, the potential of bamboo as an indigenous resource to be developed cannot be overlooked. The foundation is taking steps to help promote the development of this new green industry in the Cordilleras.
